The Rules and Policies are subject to change and/or exception based on the situation and my own best judgment. I will be the first to admit I am not perfect. I do my best to make choices and decisions that are balanced and fair.
These are the general guidelines by which I run the BBS. I have included them in the rules so players can have an idea of how I am doing things. These policies can change at any time even if I forget to update the web site, though I will try to let everyone know.
To make it simple and fair for everyone, only 1 account per IP address without approval of the Sysop. Note: Special approval will be granted based on the circumstances.
+ MOREI feel this game is a family game and I also feel that people that have to share a connection shouldn't be denied the opportunity to play. The rule is one account per person. Play only your own account. If I determine, based on my observances, that someone is playing two characters one account will be suspended until the matter is resolved. If you are sharing an IP, players will be required to TALK over gossips or in gangpaths to help make it CRYSTAL CLEAR you are not a 'dupe'. If after a while, it is not clear (to the sysop), one account will be suspended.
I hate this rule. Really. Fucking grow up people!! However, if I see CONSTANT, Non-stop, extremely harsh harassment of anyone for any reason over gossips/auctions it will result in the offender losing their gossip/auction privilages. Attacking people over global channel or pages will result in punishment as below. For telepaths, people being harassed need to type 'forget Username'. Generally, though, if you don't like what people say, turn off gossips and auctions.
+ MOREOk. Even though I said to avoid excessive vulgarities, this is, after all, a BBS full of adult users. Calling people cunt, bitch, fucker, is still, allowed. Adult language will be heard and used from time to time. Additionally, there are 'actions' in the game that have a vulgar/adult context to them. These are here for entertainment purposes, not to offend anyone. If adult "rated R" language or actions easily offend you, then you may want to reconsider playing on this BBS. If you are a minor, then you must have parent permission before playing. Every effort has been made to make these rules public. If you enter Major Mud, then it will be assumed that you have read and agreed to these rules and will not hold myself or the bbs responsible should you be offended. Yes. Anyone within 10 levels of your character's level can attack you. Almost everyone at some time will be attacked by another player(s). Learning how to kill others, defend yourself from others, or both is just another aspect of the game. Don't always count on Mega Mud (if you use it) in it's default set up to save your bacon.
Isn't that the point of this game? The appeal of Major Mud is that there are plenty of people to meet and talk to, monsters to kill and quests to complete. There are chances for characters to earn fame (or infamy), glory, honor, and respect. So go, play, and have fun!
Bugs are not allowed. Exploitation or use of bugs are unallowed.

Suprise-Round Bug (2 hand weapon used to bs, walking in/out after engaging, etc): Use of this bug will harshly punished if exploited. Dragging room spells is not a bug.
(Note that Mega Mud has a number of issues of it's own that aren't really bugs. Try adjusting settings or message responses. You'll be amazed how changing a few message responses can improve things. Also, room-spells used on seedy people will cause you to cloud. I will not remove these evil points. You have been warned!
Stat altering bugs You may not use stat altering bugs.
Coin/Encumberance bugs Any use will result in severe punishment.
It is possible to be removed from the Top 100 (and Top Gang) lists upon request, however this is at sysop's whim and can be reversed for no reason at all.
The Mud Ops and I have the power to give lives. Lives are NOT given to people that have engaged in PvP or been engaged in PvP recently. Recently means any where from two weeks (for generally non-problem causing users) to one month. The life buying option is available for all who are Elite. Free or Trial must ask an op or gain lives via training.
Generally, items will be removed from Free-Class 2 weeks after their last log in. Other classes that don't play at all or very little for one month will be wiped as well.
+ MOREPlaying means more than just sitting in the bank AFK. Repeated asking me, or harassing me about if I have/will wipe someone will put you at risk of being wiped next time around. If you are moving, going on vacation, or something like that just let me know. Depending on the item I will either remove it manually or reset it. To keep things fair and random, I will not report when a wipe was done, what was wiped, or when. I will no longer answer if a lim is in play or not.
This is what I call the limited items that sit in a stash untouched and unmoved for months. Honestly, I don't understand why someone would stash a limited item for months and months.
+ MOREAny limited I notice just sitting unused for months I will feel obligated to put back into circulation. For the record, I have only conducted this type of raid once since owning the BBS. This does not apply to vaulted items. There are game mechanics already set up to balance this problem. I could care less what is kept in vaults.
I reserve the right to treat as, and punish, any activity that appears to be cheating, whether it is covered in the rules or not. Punishment for all broken rules will be base on the circumstances, however my current guideline is: 1st offence = Warning OR Item removal + Max fiend. 2nd offence = Same as 1st offence + 1 Week Suspension. 3rd+ offence = 1 month suspension or Deletion at my option.
+ MORETwo reasons I havent in the past: 1) If I spelled things out, that'd just give them new ideas on how to be assholes and screw over other users, and 2) It'd be difficult, if not impossible, to list every scenario and situation and make a rule about it. The point is to play the game and have fun. Trying to use loop-holes in the programming to ruin other people's fun is simply unacceptable. So, now, as things come up I will try to make an entry here and explain to make these assholes feel better when they are punished. I cannot make everyone happy every time. However, I will try to keep things fair, at least from my perspective.
